Since you guys have been so nice about the art for our upcoming graphic novel series, we thought we would show you a behind the scenes look at our process.
This is a VERY ROUGH idea of our initial sketch. Two of us work on the books. Brennan does the writing, then Kara does a very rough sketch of what the page should look like (shown above). Since Brennan does the flat colors and backgrounds, Kara always tries to add some kind of stand in background so Brennan knows what she's going for. Hence the weird and sort of out of place buildings. They're just there to give Bren an idea of the perspective and building style Kara wants. Then after Bren has done the color and the backgrounds, the pages go back to Kara for rendering. The actual finished pages will look very similar to the pieces you have already seen from us. Then Bren adds the lettering and the page is finished!
