I am currently partway through sketching out my upcoming graphic novel. It is a unique take on the old story of Faust. Rather than taking place between the 1500s and 1600s, mine takes place in 1923 prohibition era, where magical colleges influence the politics of the city of Rosae Silva.
Faust (the one with the horn hair), is the rum runner for Sally's Speakeasy, the hottest speakeasy in town! She is morally grey before any deal are ever made. Think of her as someone who is kind but does things that aren't exactly legal most of the time.
The girl with Faust in the second picture is Marguerite. She lives/works in an orphanage that is becoming overrun. When she isn't caring for the children at St. Jerome's, she is fighting for the rights of the groups the Sarah Davies School of Spiritualism is attempting to marginalize.
Mephisto (the one in the top hat) is no longer the devil you know. In our story she is a shapeshifting water fae who is absolutely obsessed with making deals. She prefers that everything stay in balance, so she hates it if it seems like one person has skewed fate in their favor and is looming over the rest. Being a fae, she is a trickster and loves messing with people who aren't upholding balance. She is also a tulpa, meaning she didn't exist until humanity created and believed in her for an extended period of time, causing her to manifest.
