I really enjoy how this space lets ideas flow without pressure. Sometimes the most unexpected thoughts spark the best creative experiments. For me, I’ve found that mixing traditional sketching with digital tweaks often leads to surprising results it keeps the work feeling alive and handmade. Curious to hear how others balance spontaneity with technique!
So I have a few thoughts. All story related lol I mentioned this in another topic I cant remeber wich one. But I really want to incorporate watercolor backgrounds into my story. I have to find a right method to renderbmy characters but a watercolor background I feel would be such a intresting contrast.
2nd thought this is about character building and development my character lilly (whobi have posted a TON on here) I decided to have lilly have DID (split personality disorder. And her alternate personality is called laura. Im trying to contrast the idea that they are oposing forces in the same body (like alot of media leads it to be). I have them co exist after some time and they are essentially best friends that constantly talk in there mind. For lilly this makes her seem kinda distant and. Spaces out alot meanwhile its just her talking to laura. I have a whole story around her but I thought id type itnout here lol
You’ve got some really creative directions there. The watercolor backgrounds would add a dreamy contrast, and Lilly/Laura’s dynamic feels fresh showing friendship instead of conflict makes her inner world richer.
do you see Laura influencing Lilly’s outward choices, or do you want their bond to stay mostly internal?
So like most alters with laura was created to cope with child hood truma. I have her as a protective time alter chosing to take over lillys bodybwhen she starts feeling stressed, nervous or sad. During the younger years. Lillybwould black out for weeks and when she would come to she would be praised for things she never did ( this was laura controling lillys body) . This praise would cause lilly to get nervous thus causing laura to show up. This was a on going cycle to the point where lilly dosent remeber her childhood or how she got all of the scars on her arms. They found out that they can communicate via post it notes at first. Until eventually they started hearing each other talk in there headspace.with that background set. Lilly and laura share her body. Laura is very much a athletic person and she does fencing. (I posted a sketch of this) where as lilly loves astrology stargazing and gardening. But laura defiantly effects her outside choices. For the sake of simplicity they always just go by lilly
