Art mistakes you should avoid

Looking back, there are definitely a few mistakes I wish someone had warned me about when I first started drawing.
Things like spending too much time on tiny details, being afraid to use references, or comparing my work to artists who had been practicing for years.I used to zoom in way too much while drawing. Everything looked great up close, but when I zoomed out, the whole drawing felt off. Learning to regularly zoom out helped me catch mistakes much earlier.
What’s a mistake you made that held you back or made your art journey harder than it needed to be?

Honestly this is going to sound counter intuitive. But inwas told i habe to study study study to get better. And while its true I got burned out so fast. In attempts to get better I got burned out and quit drawing so I ended up getting worse. What I wish I did was do some studies but then did some stuff I wanted to do and enjoyed doing. A big mistake I made was relying so heavily on lineart, when in reality what worked best for me was simply following my sketch. It looks better + saves me time! this doesnt work for everystyle/everybody, but its what has worked for me!
