Is AI-Generated art hurting artists?

Ao i had this conversation with another artist that uses Ai generated prompts of his character for reference. He ends up getting discouraged on his art. I told him I feel its because your using Ai generated content of your characters that your setting thebvar to that Ai image. Wich is un realistic imo. He enjoys it because he can see what his chars could look like. To answer your question I see more harm then good from Ai generated art.
